Information City was established in 2000 with the the assistance of Australian Government funding under the Building IT Strengths (BITS) and ICT Incubators Program to support and invest in early stage Information Communications and Technology (ICT) ventures. With the support of these programs, Information City has invested in more than 80 early stage businesses and attracted more than $80 million in private co-investment over the past eight years with several exits also having been achieved.
The Australian Government funding program completed in June 2008 and no further applications for funding support are being accepted. The principal focus of Information City is now on its related Mentre Commercialisation and Growth program supported by workshops and individual mentoring and coaching.
