Overview
One of the main deficiencies in the creation of new technology-based ventures in Australia is experienced entrepreneurial management. This is particularly true for new technologies evolving from public sector and corporate research. To fill this gap, Information City established the Mentre® Network of experienced entrepreneurs and business managers and the Mentre Commercialisation and Growth Program. These support a structured, one-on-one mentoring program to develop participants skills in commercialising ideas or taking their business to the next level of development.
What is the Mentre Network?
The Mentre Network is a group of over 30 highly skilled and experienced business entrepreneurs. All of the Mentre programs, including the one-on-one mentoring/coaching, are delivered by members of the Mentre Network. Through the Mentre Network, Information City can support the growth of new enterprises with experienced leadership and specialist advice.
What experience do the Mentre Network members have?
Each member of the Mentre Network has at least 20 years experience in senior management positions in large corporates and / or start-up ventures. More than 70% of the network members are postgraduates with experience across a range of industry sectors (information and communication technologies, biotechnology, engineering and energy) and continents (Asia, North America, Europe and the Middle East).
After the program, can I keep in contact with my Mentre Mentor?
Yes! We place no restrictions on continued contact between the Mentre Mentor and course participants once the program has completed, and you are free to discuss a continued commercial relationship with your Mentre Mentor. Previous participants have successfully negotiated their Mentre Mentor's assistance in large fund raising rounds, or their Mentre has accepted a position on their company's board or in an advisory role.
